The foundation of the Defence Examination rests upon three crucial pillars: the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Army. What is Defence Exams ?

These defense services offer opportunities for individuals to serve in the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Medical & Engineering Services, JAG, and more. As you embark on this journey, several questions may arise: What are the types of defense examinations? Can female candidates apply for the defense examination? NDA Examination

The National Defence Academy (NDA) Examination, a national-level exam, is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This annual exam consists of two phases: UPSC NDA 1 and UPSC NDA 2. Candidates preparing for the examination must download the admit card, hall ticket, and other required documents to participate in the respective phases.

CDS Exam

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) administers the Combined Defence Service Examination, commonly known as CDS. This examination occurs annually in two phases: UPSC CDS 1 and UPSC CDS 2. Successful candidates in the CDS Examination are commissioned as officers and have the opportunity to serve in various branches of the armed forces, including the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, and Indian Navy. Eligibility for this examination requires candidates to have completed their graduation.

AFCAT Examination

 

The Indian Air Force organizes the AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) for individuals aspiring to fill various positions within the Indian Air Force, including Flying Officer and officers in ground duty for technical and non-technical roles.

Among the array of examinations, AFCAT holds significant importance. It is conducted biannually, in February and August/September. AFCAT allows candidates to apply for three different branches: Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Branch. Each branch has its distinct eligibility criteria.

CAPF Examination

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) Examination for individuals aspiring to join the armed forces. This examination pertains to the seven armed forces in India falling under the authorization of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Successful candidates in the CAPF AC exam are designated to various categories, including the Border Security Forces (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Eligibility for these positions involves clearing written, physical, and medical examinations, with the final allocation of positions contingent upon successful completion of all phases.

Eligibility Criteria for Defence Examination

Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria if they intend to appear for the defense examination. The defense examination provides ample opportunities for candidates pursuing graduation, ITI, or similar qualifications.

Here are some criteria they must adhere to for clearing the defense examination:

Nationality

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate can also be a subject of Nepal/Bhutan.
  • The candidate could be a Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1969, with the intention of permanent residence.
  • The candidate can be of Indian origin, migrated from Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire & Vietnam, for permanent settlement purposes in India.
